I started twitter a few months ago, since then I've begun to love it. When I started I hated Twitter it's allowed me to network with people in my industry alot easier. News and updates happen in real time which makes for a great only app.

I use a combination of ping.fm and brightkite.

I have ping.fm update my status across a number of social networks and brightkite updates my location to twitter. I then use the twitter app on facebook to update my Facebook status with status updates from ping.fm and location updates from birghtkite.

That works for me.

I am mostly active on facebook and twitter but I have ping.fm send status updates to plurk, identi.ca etrc. as well even though I don't really hang out there.

Triggers are a component of ping.fm that I have yet to investigate. They essentially allow you to choose what network you wish to update. It could be a blog entry or a status update based on the trigger you use.
